Description

Restoring drastically disturbed land to an acceptable level of productivity and visual appearance has become a specialised and sophisticated branch of environmental science. In some cases whole ecosystems have to be recreated while in others the emphasis is on productive land use such as for farming and forestry. This unit is presented by means of case histories, short projects and industry engagement, encompassing a range of rehabilitation scenarios such as mining and quarrying, landfill, industrial waste disposal and land erosion.
