Independent Dissertation Supervision, 'Zootopia? An analysis of the past, present, and future of urban zoo design in the context of animal welfare' by Kathy Chapman

Course

Description

This project seeks to gain insight into how the design of urban zoo enclosures has evolved, and how, through the lens of animal welfare, the architecture of these exhibits can be improved. This project will also speculate about the benefits of metropolitan zoos, and how the institutions can assist with local biodiversity.

How can an understanding and subsequent improvement of captive animal welfare impact the surrounding urban environment?
