Design of Offshore Energy Facilities



This unit is set for students from Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and those who are interested in offshore renewable energies.
It is a capstone unit for the Masters of Coastal and Ocean Engineering at UWA.
I have been the coordinator of this unit and teaching 80% of the lectures, practical and lab sessions since 2019.

This unit provides an overview of the design of typical offshore energy facilities, such as offshore wind turbines, wave energy converters, floating solar, hydrogen, aquaculture, etc. The practical implementation involves commercial energy market context in Australia and world widely. The academic objectives of this unit are to understand metocean engineering, hydrodynamic analysis, fluid-structure interactions, design philosophy for offshore energy infrastructures.
