Description

Boat strike by fast boats including recreational vessels as opposed to slow bulk carriers is one of the two main threats to Rockingham’s Little Penguins, according to researcher Belinda Cannell and the WA Environment Minister. The other threat to the penguin colonies on Penguin and Garden islands is starvation. The penguins feed on fish which, perhaps due to climate change, are less easy for them to find than in the past.
