Cockburn Sound tested for contamination from toxic firefighting chemicals

Description

The waters of Cockburn Sound south of Perth are being tested for potential contamination by toxic firefighting chemicals used at the HMAS Stirling navy base last decade.
The Department of Environment Regulation (DER) began to test for perfluorinated chemicals in response to a Department of Defence report highlighting high levels of contamination at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island.
