I am a long-term active member of the Science Teachers’ Association of Western Australia (STAWA), which belongs to the Australian Science Teachers’ Association. STAWA is the professional association that represents science educators at EC, P, secondary and tertiary levels. I have been the Chair of the Primary Science Committee of STAWA since 2012. The purpose of the Primary Science committee is to provide professional support and resource initiatives to the STAWA Council and the wider primary science education community of WA. My work with STAWA has included organising the annual Primary Science conference; nominating primary science teachers for various state and national awards; and providing feedback on Science curriculum reviews, policy documents, and science education resources. The latter has included meeting Ministers, policy advisers, and representatives from the WA School Curriculum and Standards Authority and the WA Primary Principals Association. Additionally, I have developed a range of EC and P science resources for STAWA. These include 14 Primary Science Pin-Ups from 2010-2017 which are distributed to all STAWA members. The Primary Science Pin-Ups are a science activity ideas resource sheet, based around specific science concept.
