Description
Pujiman (meaning bush or desert born and dwelling) is a 2-year collaborative project between Martumili Artists (Newman) and Spinifex Hill Artists (Port Hedland). The project was designed to empower young people from people in Newman, Port Hedland and eastern Pilbara communities through making art and connecting with senior artists.Martumili and Spinifex Hill art centre artists and staff worked with a range of stakeholders and arts professionals to deliver a series of art workshops and artist camp in Punmu, a western desert community in Martu country.
In addition to the participating senior artists, art centre staff and young people working on the project, Arts professionals engaged included animation facilitator Steven Aiton, film and photography facilitator Curtis Taylor, drawing facilitator Andy Quilty and filmmaker Dave Wells.
