Masterclass on Aboriginal histories, collections and repatriation.

Activity: Conferences and workshopsParticipation in workshop, seminar or course

Description

Masterclass that challenges how Aboriginal histories and collections have been represented, classified, and displayed and asks how these stories can be reclaimed, reinterpreted, and reframed through Aboriginal knowledge, voice and authority.

This half-day program brings together leading researchers and curators who are confronting the legacies of collecting and exhibiting Aboriginal culture. Through deep archival work, collaboration, and truth-telling, they offer new perspectives on how Aboriginal stories are held and told within museums, libraries, and galleries.

Looking both backwards and forwards, the masterclass explores how institutional collections can shift from sites of colonial power to spaces of dialogue, recognition, and reclamation.
