Activity: Conferences and workshops › Contribution or participation in a conference
Description
2020 has been an unprecedented year globally, and for Australian archaeology, resulting in isolation across the continent, mobilities severely reduced, and active research projects halted. As a result, AAA is embracing the technologies implemented to ameliorate these difficult times, and for the first time moving its annual conference online.
As we emerge from the greatest crisis of our time, we are reminded of other crises faced in times past. Too often the voices of those most closely affected by upheaval are silenced. For this conference we challenge participants to reflect on past events that have silenced many (including Indigenous people, women, the poor or the incarcerated), denying the voices of those from below. How can we balance the range of isolated voices to encourage collaborative narratives of what is important archaeology, sensu lata, in 2020?
