Roles, responsibilities and expertise

Laila is a Lecturer and the Biomedical Sciences Application Group Leader at the CMCA, UWA. Her key roles include collaborating with researchers on projects involving the use of high-resolution mass spectrometry for proteomic analysis.

Her areas of expertise include immunology of infectious diseases, bacterial vaccines, molecular biology, high-resolution mass spectrometry in metabolomics and proteomics and flow cytometry.


Dr Laila Abudulai is a Lecturer and the Biomedical Sciences Application Group Leader at the Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis (CMCA). Laila joined the CMCA in November 2016 after successfully completing her PhD in Pathology at The University of Western Australia (UWA) where she studied antibody dysfunction in chronic HIV-1 infection. Laila also holds a B.Sc. (Honours, first class) in Chemistry from Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada and a Graduate Diploma in Forensic Science from UWA.
